Kick-A$* Morning Run!
Check out my pace in my third mile this morning!! 8:06! Great way to start what turned out to be an amazing day. I was productive at work and at school, I had a wonderful lunch with lovely friends and I had a yummy dinner with my mom. Can’t beat that!
I’m so happy that I’m getting faster!! 😀 Next Step: Adding mileage!!!!
Run, Work, Errands, School, Cook, Study… Pass-OUT!
OK, folks. I was about ready to go to bed when realized that I haven’t written in a couple of days. I’m very proud to say that I have achieved my goal of keeping up with my fitness despite my crazy work/ school schedule. I am now on a lax summer time schedule at work and don’t have to start my days until 9am and get to leave by 2pm. I ran this morning, I’m going for a bike ride tomorrow, I’m almost finished with my classes, and I’ll be done with work for the summer by next Monday.
Life is good…. If I can just get through the craziness of this next week, It will all be worth it! Today I Ran, worked, did some errands, went to class, cooked myself some dinner, studied for test, blogged and will now pass out. In the words of Ryan Seacrest “Cristy, OUT!”
New Friends, New Trails, New Adventures!
So, once again, I went on my 7 mile run this morning. Only this time, I met up with my friend Samantha for a bike ride afterwards! We had such a blast riding through a trail I had never done before. We enjoyed seeing cool iguanas and turtles, did some strange people watching and, of course, had some awesome girl-talk time. What a great way to end the weekend! Actually… what a great way to start my Sunday! A reverse brick workout, LOL. Now, I gotta start getting serious about cycling and running back to back… but in the correct order.
After Samantha and I finished having a yummy breakfast, I took my bike to the shop to get it serviced, have the handle bars re-taped and buy some road pedals and cycling shoes. I’m looking pretty legit now on that bike, LOL 😉 Ready for my months of training ahead. Gonna be awesome!
- Beautiful run by the ocean
- Happy I finished
- Awesome 11.5 mile ride
- Pancakes…. ’cause we gotta replenish our carbs, of course. (they’re wholewheat. Don’t judge me! lol)
June 6th: First Day of Summer Vacation
So, although it was officially a “Teacher Work Day” I took Friday off to go for a run and disconnect before tackling the daunting task of creating the schedules for my middle school students for next year. Once I’m done, though, I’ll be completely off for the summer! Good thing is, my work day starts later and my office will be quiet and calm.
I decided to celebrate the end of a great year by doing my routine 7 mile run and follow it with a veg-out session at the beach. I may not have run it fast but, I went out there and did the mileage with no excuses. My reward was that I had gorgeous views of the beach and practically had it all to myself because of how early I arrived after my run. Summer-time, I missed you!
Check out my splits!
And other gorgeous views of the beach 🙂
You got this…
June 5th: it’s time!
6 more years ’till Guacamole!
So, about a year ago, I made some guacamole with a few haas avocados from the grocery store. One of them was so ripe that the seed had split and a little sprout was coming out of it. I decided to place it in some potting soil in a planter in my screened porch… low and behold, this is what has resulted one year later.
I was told by a friend that avocado trees do not give fruit until they are at least 7 years old so, unfortunately, I still have 6 years until I can make some more guacamole. I don’t even mind, however, because I’m so proud and excited that its grown this much! She’s sprouted even more in the last two months since I’ve gotten back into the habit of sprinkling my used coffee grounds in her soil.
Considering how many grounds I’ve been feeding her… do you suspect her fruit will be caffeinated? LOL 😉
May 27-31st: Family
I’m really grateful for having such an amazing, loving family. The older I get, the more I realize how much they mean to me. Without my family I would be nothing. They are my backbone, my support and my teachers. It goes without saying that I am grateful for them 365. I can overcome anything and achieve anything with them by my side, and one day I will create a family of my own. 🙂
- Aunt and Uncle
- Parents and aunts and uncle
- Me and Mommy
- Dogs are family too! ❤
- Me, mom and sis
