March 5th: Massages

treat your self
Today I am grateful that I can afford to treat myself every once in a while.  Despite feeling remarkably good for having done two half marathons in a row last weekend, I realize that my muscles could use a little loosening up.  I have a dull ache in my right sciatic and hip and my calves are still a little stiff.  I called a local massage parlor chain and scheduled an appointment for this evening… and am SO glad I did.
I’m just going to cook myself up some soup, paint my nails and head to bed early once I get home, thank you very much

February 26th: My “tune up”

mani-pedi 2

Today, I treated myself to a little pampering by doing what what my mother likes to refer to as “the tune up.”

The “tune up” is a bizarre regimen that we women engage in to look presentable to others.  Every woman’s regimen is different but it frequently includes some (if not all) of the following:  waxing, tweezing, depilatory creams, facial masks, leave-in hair treatments, teeth whitening strips and nail polish.  Luckily, it has not been too long since my last tune up so today’s task was not too arduous.

The colors I chose for the mani-pedi I gave myself, however, are a bit out of character for me.  Oh well, its only in keeping with the theme of this weekend’s double races: CRAZINESS!

February 5th: Being a Girly-Girl

being girly

For any of you that were assuming that I am the “sporty” type because I run half marathons, get stinky and sweaty and because most of my dirty laundry is comprised of running capris and dry wick shirts… I must regretfully inform you that I am, in fact, a SERIOUS girly-girl.

I can’t go to work without putting on mascara and ironing my hair, I only wear designer perfume, I collect chandelier earrings, I own several dozen pashmina shawls as well as several dozen pairs of pumps.  I LOVE getting all dressed up and I worship any woman with an hourglass figure.  I’m big on the way a woman should carry herself and I believe strongly that a woman should know how to walk elegantly in a pair of heels.

Today I got to wear something other than my school uniform to work because of a training I attended off-campus in the morning.  I didn’t dress exceptionally feminine today but, it was nice being a little more elegant than usual.  It kinda got me in the mood to get all girly-girl this weekend!  Now I just need an occasion…
