Run, Work, Errands, School, Cook, Study… Pass-OUT!

tired

OK, folks.  I was about ready to go to bed when realized that I haven’t written in a couple of days.  I’m very proud to say that I have achieved my goal of keeping up with my fitness despite my crazy work/ school schedule.  I am now on a lax summer time schedule at work and don’t have to start my days until 9am and get to leave by 2pm.  I ran this morning, I’m going for a bike ride tomorrow, I’m almost finished with my classes, and I’ll be done with work for the summer by next Monday.

Life is good…. If I can just get through the craziness of this next week, It will all be worth it!  Today I Ran, worked, did some errands, went to class, cooked myself some dinner, studied for test, blogged and will now pass out.  In the words of Ryan Seacrest “Cristy, OUT!”

Work + School + Running = Exhausted

Today I’m grateful that I completed an exam successfully at school, after a full day’s work, then came home and ran a 5K before showering and zonking out on the couch with the pups.

Well, its officially been 8 days since I’ve posted anything and I have to say that I’m exhausted and overwhelmed.  I’ve been keeping up with my training despite it being the end of the school year AND I’m taking classes myself.

There’s so much to do!  Regardless, I’ve been averaging under 9 minute miles just as I’ve wanted to and I’ve been running 3 times a week.

Once school ends next Thursday, my schedule will be fee to run in the mornings and I can increase that to at LEAST 4 times a week (preferrably 5)

Summer, why can’t you get here sooner!!!!!???????

May 14th: Get’er done!

life balance

Two assignments done, reading (kinda) done, still running and still blogging.  Week one of balancing everything is almost under my belt…  Only got 5 more to go!  LOL

Today (and always) I’m grateful for my mom’s commitment to taking care of my furry children when I’m gone all day.  I can tell they miss me terribly because they whimper when I get home. 😦  Poor babies.  At least I know they’re being well taken care of and aren’t spending too much time alone.

May 12th: Back to school , back to school…

back to school 1
(I love Billy Madison, LOL!)
Yesterday was my first day back to school… No, no more degrees for me, thank you.  I’ve paid my dues (and am now paying my loans) for my career.  I just have to take two courses at a local university in order to meet requirements for Professional Teacher Certification.  I currently work under my temporary certification which is still good for a year but, I like to be proactive at getting stuff done.
Have I told you all how much I love school?  I also love the fact that I’m taking courses with undergraduates who are a good 12-15 years younger than me.  I feel like a kid again 😉
My worry, though, is this:  How am I going to get my weekly runs in?  I have been doing so exceptionally well that I don’t want to break my momentum!  If I get out at 8pm, will there be enough sunlight at the end of the day to go out for a quick 5K by myself safely?  We shall see.  I didn’t plan on running the first day but was going to assess the daylight situation as I was leaving class.

March 13th: Head like an alien’s

alien head

Today, I pulled a first grader (about 7 years old) out of class to do some testing.  As I walked with him from his classroom to my office he asked:

Boy: “Ms. Cristina, to do the test do I have to read?”

Me: “Yup.  But I know you’ll think its easy.  Don’t worry.”

Boy:  “Oh, I’m not worried.  I like reading because it helps you learn and learning makes your brain grow.”

Me:  (chuckling)  “Ah!  That’s true.”

Boy:  “Did you know that I’ve been smart since I was a baby?  When I was born I already had a big brain and thats why my head looked like an alien’s.”

Me:  (more than chuckling now) “Oh, thats just silly. You’re funny!”

Boy:  “Its funny but its true.  I did have an alien head.”  (All of a sudden, he got really serious.)

Heehee!…. I can’t make this s%$# up.  These kids are too funny and they have no idea how cute they are!
