Active.com’s Tips to Run through the Heat

run in heat 3

The heat is getting fierce and my long runs have gotten slower and more taxing as a result.  There are a few things you can do to stay safe during the hottest months of the year and the following article from Active.com lists most of the tricks that I commit to during the summer.  On my last long-run, for example, I left at 7am only to realize that this was already too late in the day.  The earlier in the morning (or later in the evening) the better.  Check out the link for other useful info:

April 30th: Shorts!… ’cause its too hot for capris, lol!

shorts

Okie dokie pokie…. I gave in and bought myself some running shorts to replace my standard capri running pants.  I have refused to wear shorts to run in for years because they ride up and don’t feel as comfortable as capris.  Also, I’ll admit that I’ve always struggled with my body image and my upper thighs are my trouble spot!

The unbearable heat and my new “who-gives-a-crap-what-I-look-like-as-long-as-I’m -comfortable” attitude has helped me decide to go ahead and get myself a pair.  I went for an experimental run with these non-name-brand shorts that I just bought at Marshall’s for only $12 and am pretty happy!… No riding up and my legs are able to breath.  I even felt lighter and faster, lol!!!  Bonus:  My bike ridding tan lines will now match my running tan lines.  😉  Summer, I’m ready for ya!!!!
